The San Francisco Daily Morning Call, August 14, 1864

ANOTHER CLOTHING THIEF -- Ah Fun stole some clothing for fun, that is to say, for himself, or probably Mrs. Fun, or the little Funs. He will be tried on a charge of petty larceny to-morrow before Judge Shepheard, if his own recognizance holds him.

A HOTEL THIEF ARRESTED -- An individual named Mark Mayer, not altogether unknown to fame, was arrested yesterday evening, on Jackson street, for stealing all sorts of mentionables and unmentionables from rooms in the different hotels in the city. In the American Exchange, he explored eight or nine rooms, and obtained a large quantity of clothing and jewelry. The International Hotel was also honored with a visit from the enterprising gentleman. At his own rendezvous was found a large quantity of wearing apparel and articles of jewelry, which he had from time to time gathered in, much of which is as yet unclaimed. There are ten charges of petty larceny already preferred against him. Among his plunder was found a set of diamond studs, the property of William F. Swasey of Benicia. He is a bold fellow; for he even run the risk of mining stock certificates, which in these uncertain times might break on his hands and ruin him. Mark Mayer is good for a term at San Quentin, though some day he'll be caught robbing the cells there, if he gets a chance.

THE WASHOE CONVENTION. -- The Territorial Nominating Convention met at Carson last Wednesday, elected P. G. Clark, of Lander county, as President, Joseph Loryea, of Virginia, as Secretary, named H. G. Worthington, of Lander, and Tom Fitch of Virginia, for Delegate to Congress, and nominated the latter on the first ballot, giving him forty-one votes to Worthington's eleven. If that isn't a nice quartette, we would like to know who is fastidious enough to want better. Poor badgered, persecuted, unoffending Washoe!
